Awakening to the World Community Camp: Intro to Sufi Practices (July 7 - 10th)

The Summer Meditation Camp of the Sufi Order International (SOI) offers an introduction to universal Sufism. The SOI honors all religions and welcomes all as members of one single family of humanity. Over the years friends from around the globe have found their way to the SOI. At the Annual Summer Meditation Camp, you will have an opportunity to dance, sing, eat, pray, relax, meditate and experience some of the most inspiring teachers one can find anywhere. Among the teachers who will be participating in this event are Pir Zia Inayat Khan, Taj Inayat and Aziza Scott. Pir Zia Inayat Khan, spiritual leader of the SOI, is a master of meditation and Sufi spiritual practices. Known for poetic eloquence, profound insight and an inspiring atmosphere, he carries on the legacy left by his father Pir Vilayat Inayat Khan and his grandfather Hazrat Inayat Khan who brought Sufism to the West one hundred years ago. For many years, Taj Inayat has been known in Sufi circles for her remarkable skill in offering in-depth exploration of the inner life. Aziza Scott, another leading teacher, travels around the world training retreat guides and offering retreats in many languages

The Abode of the Message, where the summer gathering will be held, is the residential community of the Sufi Order International and home to Pir Zia Inayat Khan. A conference and retreat center and a center of esoteric study, it has been operating continuously since 1975. The Abode is housed in historic Shaker buildings built between 1834 and 1870. The 400 acre campus hosts an organic farm and summer camp facilities.

Join us on one of the Shaker’s sacred mountains, near the Berkshires, among pristine woods and flowing rivers. Enjoy home-grown organic food, miles of hiking trails and a peaceful swimming pond. You are welcome to attend either one or both the Community Camp, July 7-10, and/or the Silent Retreat, July 11-13. Accommodations range from private rooms on campus, to retreat huts, to tenting on the mountain top. A camp is also available on the grounds during this gathering for children 6 – 12 years of age.
