Monthly Zikr

allahAn evening of Sufi Practices, Meditation, Zikr and Tea. Deepening spiritual practice is essential to travelers of the journey; Practicing and experiencing meditation, Zikr and wazifa (also know as Mantras) under an experienced practitioner and in a group of other experienced spiritual practitioners helps one to unfurl one’s own potentialities. Conversation over tea acts as a way to integrate and ground those practices into life (it is also fun).

"Zikr” means remembrance of God. On Meditation, Zikr and Tea evenings, participants unite in intensive exploration and experience of this central practice of all Sufis.

The evening is led by Bassam Victor Demko who is a holistic filmmaker and web developer who has extensive meditation training and leading experience. photo of BassamHe graduated from the American Film Institute’s Center for Advanced Film Studies where he studied with Robert Wise, Ron Howard and Sir David Puttnam. He studied and practiced meditation with Sufi Master Pir Vilayat Khan for 12 years and with the Dali Lama amongst others. He also holds a degree in Economics from the University of Western Ontario and a 4 year degree in the Inner Yoga of Sufism from The Suluk Academy, where Pir Zia Inayat Khan was the chief instructor. Hazrat Inayat Khan

Pir-O-Murshid Hazrat Inayat Khan

From the Gayan

Beautiful gorse-bushes, what are you here for?
–We are little lanterns on your path.
But where do you get your prickly thorns from?
–Flowers from above, thorns from below.
