The silsila (Arabic for chain or pedigree) of a Sufi order traces its initiatory history and forms the chain of baraka (blessing) upon which the order is founded. It is also called the shajara (tree). Our order's silsila is presented below, and you may visit the Sufi Order International's silsila webpage for more information.

Pir Zia Inayat-Khan, the current spiritual leader of the Sufi Order International, was initiated into our order by his father Pir Vilayat Inayat Khan.

Pir-O-Murshid Hazrat Inayat Khan

From the Gayan

Thy whisper to the ears of my heart moveth my soul to ecstasy. The waves of joy that rise out of my heart form a net in which Thy living Word may swing. My heart patiently awaiteth Thy Word, deaf to all that cometh from without. O Thou, who art enshrined in my heart, speak again to me; Thy voice exalteth my spirit.
